I've had many masters and mentors in my life. Some of them told me right off the bat that that's what they were. Others just casually changed the direction of my life with an off-handed comment or a discarded tool.

Sometimes I forget the power I have as a person of a certain age to make a difference in a younger person's trajectory. But when I do remember that fact, I wield it like Thor's mighty hammer!

"NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FOR A MUFFLER!"

"ROOM TEMPERATURE FRUIT IS BETTER THAN COLD FRUIT!"

"IF YOU PICK AT IT, IT WILL NEVER HEAL!"

(Honestly though, you can yell wise words all day and not change a thing... the stuff that always seems to stick with me is the low-volume stuff.)
