LEAVING' ON A JET PLANE

45 RPM records needed this weird little plastic adapter to play on a record player that was built for a 33 1/3 RPM album.

If you couldn’t find one (they were always missing), you had to put you thumb between the spindle and the inner edge of the 45 RPM and try and center it as the turntable turned.

Then, if for any reason, the record had a scratch in it, you’d have to balance pennies on top of the needle arm to keep it from skipping.

So when your streaming service buffers, think about the elaborate game of record-player-Jenga your ancestors used to have to play to hear just one John Denver classic.
