HOLY LAWYERING
The old Cathode Ray Tube (CTR) TVs took no less than 10 minutes to warm up so that the color and picture were at their brightest. In the early eighties, they added a thing to the TVs so that they would always be warm when you turned them on.
Guess what? TV fires!
Those old TVs were crazy. Whenever you turned one on, it would make sound that was like a crack of electricity. There was no way to be sneaky if you wanted to watch TV during Lent or when Saturday Night Live was on after everyone went to bed.
And whenever you turned one off, it would make these loud crackly sounds way after the picture was gone. My dad said that that was the TV complaining about how hard we made it work that day.
He wasn’t wrong.
