Esperanto was supposed to bring us all together. I thought for sure with all the English I melted into my Spanish, I would be the first in my community to master Esperanto!

(Esperanto was created as an easy and flexible language that would serve as a universal second language to foster world peace and international understanding!)

Instead, I just became an expert at Central Spanishfornia. A Spanish-English hybrid that allowed me to communicate with most of the people in my household growing up. And it did not always foster peace.
