In 1968, Roger Ferriter designed the the plastic egg that Hanes used to sell their famous “L’egg” Pantyhose.

Roger then took an early lunch.

Hanes put their pantyhose into the egg container so that they could sell them in grocery stores because women were already there buying real eggs. That was the logic. The man logic!

In the summer and fall of 1977, it spawned a secondary market among boys . Star Wars had come out in theaters and it had not provided us with any merchandise. The L’egg egg looked so much like R2D2 that we begged our moms and sisters to give us that packaging. This provided Hanes with millions of more dollars in revenue that it did not expect!
