The hilarious and heartful imaginings and experiences of his childhood are the subject of Martín’s upcoming graphic novel Mexikid Dreams, the follow-up to his acclaimed 2023 debut graphic novel Mexikid, which in addition to the Newbery Honor, won him both the Pura Belpré Author and Illustrator awards in 2024, as well as the Eisner and Tomás Rivera awards.
